Preparation and Process
Methods of Transporting Shipments
| Ocean Shipment | Ideal for articles not needed immediately after arriving at the destination, or weighty or voluminous ones. This method takes more days to deliver. Please consider your date of assignment and other schedules when preparing your packages. |
|---|---|
| Air Shipment | Usually called unaccompanied baggage. It is delivered sooner than by ocean shipment. Include articles immediately needed after arrival at your destination. |
| Accompanied Baggage (Carry-on baggage) | The amount of carry-on baggage that can be carried on board as airline baggage varies depending on the airline, but generally it is around 20 kg per person in economy class. If you exceed this amount, you will be charged an excess baggage fee. Please be aware of this. |
| Local Move and Domestic Storage | Please discuss with your family in advance and sort out any remaining baggage that you will not be taking overseas, such as items that will be kept in a space at your parents' house or in a storage room. |
Please also note the following
| Remove batteries for ocean shipment. The liquid inside the batteries may leak. |
| We cannot ship products containing lithium-ion batteries. |
| Remove price tags and wrappers from new products. |
| Have your clothes dry cleaned or washed in advance and ready to pack. |
| Set aside documents you need to carry for travel, e.g., passports, so as to avoid mixing them with baggage to be shipped. |
| Please contact us in advance for shipment of animals and plants, as application filing, quarantine, and other complicated procedures are required prior to shipment. |
| Hose dirt completely off garden tools, golf clubs, and bicycle tires (the smallest amount of dirt found will be subject to immediate quarantine). |
| Carry alcohol and tobacco products with you (all unaccompanied goods will be taxed). |
| Completely clear the dirt and dust inside vacuum cleaners. Completely remove dust from carpets. |
| There may be restrictions on shipping food depending on the country you are moving to. Please contact us for details. |
